What is the specification for compression on a 1997 GSI 717 motor. I'm getting 90 lb max and I am sure that is too low. Before I get too far in the weeds chasing down a higher speed ignition or fuel problem I suppose I should qualify the motor itself is sound.

There is a set screw of some type on the side of the carb near the hose connections (see pic). What is that for and/or how does one adjust it?

Great advice. The JB stuff fixed that, now I'm chasing a higher RPM engine cutting out problem. All my preliminary checks are good except the charging voltage at higher RPM seems way too high. Could that cause a performance problem like this?

I think my number 15 parts are both rubber stoppers of some sort and I think the front one has come apart and is clogging up the opening on the end of the crankshaft (or PTO if you will). Not sure what these rubber stoppers are even for.
