    Parts Seadoo GSI For Sale

Have sold the motor and still have carb, starter, jet pump, mpec, trim assembly, and the trailer (which is a very good one that would haul many types of wave runners. Reply if interested.

    Parts Seadoo GSI For Sale

I have a 1997 Seadoo that I bought used and nearly completely rebuilt it only to find out the hull is cracked on the bottom. As I have developed some severe health problems, I have decided just to sell off the thing, either in total or parts. It has all new switches, a newly rebuilt jet pump...

    Seadoo saga

I'm feeling pretty foolish today after suffering the latest sage on my Seadoo project. After having the jet pump rebuilt, carb gone through, new starter, plugs, fuel selector, all the bellows seals, etc. I couldn't get the thing to run without cutting out at a higher throttle. Before resigning...

    1997 GSI Compression spec

I agree. Just wonder what OEM spec is. I cannot find this in the Seadoo manual anywhere(?). Thanks

    1997 GSI Compression spec

What is the specification for compression on a 1997 GSI 717 motor. I'm getting 90 lb max and I am sure that is too low. Before I get too far in the weeds chasing down a higher speed ignition or fuel problem I suppose I should qualify the motor itself is sound.

Still chasing high RPM cutting out

There is a set screw of some type on the side of the carb near the hose connections (see pic). What is that for and/or how does one adjust it?

Still chasing high RPM cutting out

I reviewed the carb rebuild post and believe I will redo the carb with a Mikuni OEM kit. I'm still not clear about testing and adjusting those pop-off numbers and suspect it has real issues there. Also, the ski bellows out quite a bit of blue smoke in the garage when running and due to poor...

Still chasing high RPM cutting out

Tomorrow, I'm going to run a line to an external fuel tank to see if that cures this. If it does I'll know the carb is OK and if not, I'll know the issue must be in that carb itself. I have already cleaned it and installed a new carb kit, so as I'm then at a loss I guess I'll have to replace the...

Still chasing high RPM cutting out

You're right. It only has a single carb on it. I had it running in the garage with a hose running and had my son working the throttle. At higher RPM when it started cutting out, I enrichened the fuel with propane and it straightened right out. Just rebuilt the carb. I'll blow out the hoses and...

Still chasing high RPM cutting out

I thought I had my 1997 Seadoo GSI performance problems resolved. I found my charging voltage was too high and replaced the regulator/rectifier which cured that. However, it still has issues with loosing power upon acceleration and it's a definite missing out and not a surge. The new analog tach...

Water leak GSI 717 Exhaust Muffler

Great advice. The JB stuff fixed that, now I'm chasing a higher RPM engine cutting out problem. All my preliminary checks are good except the charging voltage at higher RPM seems way too high. Could that cause a performance problem like this?

Water leak GSI 717 Exhaust Muffler

I finally got the 97 Seadoo GSI 717 project fired up (just when summer is over). Running it in the garage hooked up to a hose, it idles OK but cuts out when the throttle is applied steadily. It does seem to rev up OK when just punching it from idle. It starts missing when the throttle is slowly...

Water leak GSI 717 Exhaust Muffler

I finally got my 1997 GSI ready to fire up after many months of a rebuilding project. Much to my chagrin, there is a water leak on the exhaust muffler (I didn't know it was called that) right above the front stator cover. As I went shopping on ebay for the part, I came across this pre=owned for...

    Eliminate oil tank

There is a two-wire sensor of some type that sits in the oil tank. The two wires read open ohms now. How does that work and/or what does it do?

Oil pressure or oil level sensor?

On my 1997 Seadoo GSI, it has an odd looking switch or sensor in the tank that appears to have a roller on the bottom. I was wondering how that works as I am converting the OEM (broken) Digital display gauge to two marine analog gauges. One has an oil pressure meter which I would like to use but...

    Driveshaft stoppers necessary

Pursuant to my previous post, I see the driveshaft on each end of the 1997 GSI has two rubber stoppers. One was loose and had become deformed and was blocking the shaft from going all the way into the rear of the PTO causing a lockup when the jet pump was tightened up. My question is are these...

    Lock up mystery

I think my number 15 parts are both rubber stoppers of some sort and I think the front one has come apart and is clogging up the opening on the end of the crankshaft (or PTO if you will). Not sure what these rubber stoppers are even for.

    Lock up mystery

I had the pump rebuilt professionally and it spins freely. I/m looking at the driveshaft binding somehow and have come up with a couple observations. 1st, the driveshaft parts explosion on the online free manual shows 2 number 15 parts that go on each end of the driveshaft but does not indicate...
