    Engine misaligned?

Well, I got it all done. Ski assembled, working, put in water, and MAN, it's great. No more rattle at idle, no aeration during hole shots. Just runs the way a jet ski is supposed to! It's like a brand new ski, 30 years later. I noticed the PTO plate gets hot (~150F) during operation. Is it...

    selling a '96 ski without a title?

Is it possible for you to get a title issued? I know in WI trailers don't need to be registered under a certain gross vehicle weight. But you can go register them if you want to, which is very helpful for an out of state sale. When I took mine to another state the DMV couldn't even understand...

    Seadoo Spx suddenly running rich

Did it run well post carb rebuild? How many hours approximately did you put on it since April? May not be it, but it's easy to check... try disconnecting the rectifier (red wire). If the rectifier is failing it can make it misfire, so then you'd be spitting gas out the exhaust exactly as...

    Throttle cable sheath broken

My throttle cable outer sheath is frayed at the carburetor end. This cable goes to the oil pump from the carbs. The throttle moves easily and I can see the oil pump arm moving with the throttle. Do I need to fix this? Can I somehow just move that silver housing back or do I need a new cable?

    Engine misaligned?

Fiddled with it more. The tool goes in and clinks when it hits the back. But it doesn't come out easily... It sticks when pulling it out. Given the driveshaft is splined, is this close enough? It appears the engine is actually horizontally twisted slightly compared to the plate. When I...

    Engine misaligned?

So with a lot of shims I can get it close. I really don't feel comfortable with shimming the pump... I don't know how. Anyway, I bought longer 702 stainless bolts. Can I just have some extra shims in there? Also, how do you know how many shims you need for the front engine mount? The...

    Engine misaligned?

So I had the engine mount bolts out earlier, I went to put them back in, and now they screw in a little bit then suddenly get tight like they're cross threaded. I didn't want to force them, as I'd never experienced this before. When the bolt gets a fairly hard to turn, I'd say there's 1/2"...

    Engine misaligned?

Both appear to be about 3CM tall (at the rubber part and they visually look the same). Can you slide the engine left and right without shims? Maybe I just need to just try to loosen all the engine mount bolts at the same time and slide the engine mounts to the left?

1995 Seadoo GTX, doesn't go higher than 30 mph

9 of 10 grandmas agree 37 mph isn't fast enough. Good luck on your rebuild project! Have fun!

1995 Seadoo GTX, doesn't go higher than 30 mph

110 to 120 is really low. You're not using a harbor freight gauge, are you? They have a defective design and can read low. You're supposed to have 150 and most will stop working right around 120

Water leak at Steering Cable Passthrough.

That looks like all the parts you need. Check the service manual and make sure you installed them in the right sequence. I really hope it's not coming from behind the pump plate. That's glued on with... Sufficient RTV. If it makes you feel any better, I'm having an alignment issue that might...

1995 Seadoo GTX, doesn't go higher than 30 mph

There's a line and a notch that you have to line up at idle. Definitely get the service manual as it talks about how to adjust it. Example here of someone trying to do the same thing: Thread '787 Oil Injection Cable Throw Length Too Short?' 787 Oil Injection Cable Throw Length Too Short?

    Starter Staying engaged 1996 SPX

I know you solved it, but we're on weird things. My solenoid worked fine, but my starter stayed engaged after starting and bogged down the engine. It had a bad bendix gear that got all chewed up at full extension. Bendix would extend but not retract back, so the motor was driving the starter...

Water leak at Steering Cable Passthrough.

See the service manual. On my 1996 there's a rubber washer that makes the seal. Is that what you mean by washer and nut kit? If that's all in there I don't know how it would be leaking. Is this a drip or a full on stream?

1995 Seadoo GTX, doesn't go higher than 30 mph

Definitely need a compression test now. Assuming that checks out, you're okay. Oil pump will go to max if the cable breaks or is disconnected, so yep, that'd explain the smoke. Since you're getting into it, make sure all grey fuel lines have been replaced. If it had grey fuel lines I'd...

Recommend OSDPARTS.com. Amazon ones haven't worked well for me. Poor quality and failed early.

    1996 GSX bogging-pulling my hair out- FIXED-UPDATE

Very welcome. Hopefully that's the problem... Sometimes only see problems in water! You can run the ski for at least 30m with that wire pulled if you need to test in water, FYI. Just disconnect the battery and top it off with a charger before heading out to the water. Did you ever replace...

1995 Seadoo GTX, doesn't go higher than 30 mph

How do you avoid hacking up the aluminum pump housing when you do this? Also, you have to remove the impeller first, right? Is there some way to do it with the impeller on?

    98 Seadoo GS Suddenly Stopping

If you're still running grey fuel lines it may have clogged your current carbs. Minor smoke and slight fuel smell is normal on these 2 cycles at idle.

I have a 96 GTX not 98 GS, so it may be different. On mine, the rectifier looks like this...
