Top end rebuild finished - gas lines replaced - break in and start up Q's

Mike, my thoughts exactly! $4 and 2 mins vs $200-$350 and many hours, think I will take the $2. LOL.... I was also thinking the same on the oil, since Im running 50:1 and the oil pump is working then its getting allot of oil. I think next tank I will run with straight gas or maybe like 10:1...

Top end rebuild finished - gas lines replaced - break in and start up Q's

yep, 3rd set seemed to be the charm (knock on wood) ran for about 25 mins no problem then was no wake time on the lake, will be out again tomorrow. I will probably replace with a new set in a couple days, break in seems to be rough on plugs (I remember the same for my nitro RC cars). I will...

Top end rebuild finished - gas lines replaced - break in and start up Q's

I did a 1mm bore with new pistons, is this maybe why I have 165? I hooked the hose up, first primed the gas, turned over almost right away but ran a bit of a high idle for about the first 15 secs. Turned the water on after about 8 secs let it continue to idle, held the injection pump open and...

Top end rebuild finished - gas lines replaced - break in and start up Q's

Great info, I just made a water hose hookup connector so I will try to do it this way. I already made some premix 50:1 just for insurance. Good news on the compression, checked it last night and each cylinder was at 165 so if it just gets better then thats good news.

Top end rebuild finished - gas lines replaced - break in and start up Q's

Can I just remove the plugs and turn the motor over while holding the oil injection wide open? I wanted to test compression anyway.

Top end rebuild finished - gas lines replaced - break in and start up Q's

ok so I should start it up and run it out of the water first at idle so I can hold the injection wide open to get the oil flowing? I dont have the hose hookup, I was hoping to just do this in the water. I found the bleed screw and bled the line. I will run premix for the first tank (what ratio...

Top end rebuild finished - gas lines replaced - break in and start up Q's

Ok, so I got the top end rebuild finished and while I was in there I replaced all of the old grey shit lines and also fixed my fuel baffle. Im pretty much ready to fire it up but I wanted to know of any cautions? I am curious to know how long it will take to get the new fuel moving in the lines...

Top End Rebuild Reassembly Question Loctite 515?

Awesome, thanks for all the info. I did get the Permatex 51813, no one around here sells the loctite 515 or 518. Nothing is warped and I am using brand new o-rings so I probably dont need to use it but I am going to use a very thin coat like the Dr advised! : )

Top End Rebuild Reassembly Question Loctite 515?

So obviously I put the 515 on the outer side of the rubber o-ring and I probably only need a light coat?

Top End Rebuild Reassembly Question Loctite 515?

Ok, so I finally have everything together to finish my top end rebuild on a 94 seadoo gtx 650. My main question is, in the manual it says to use Loctite 515 on the outer edge of the cylinders (See Pic). I did not notice any residue or signs of use when I took it apart? I assumed that the rubber...

94 GTX Black Pressure Relief Valve Question

On the black pressure relief valve that feeds out the little elbow just below the bumper trim, is this supposed to allow air to flow through both ways? From what I gather its only supposed to open one way? When I blow through mine I can blow a little air both ways. Can some one elaborate on this...

94 GTX Fuel filter tubing routing question

Thank you. Previous owner had them flipped, wonder what that would have caused? One other question - The black pressure relief valve that feeds out the little elbow just below the bumper trim is allowing air to flow through when I blow either way? From what I gather its only supposed to open...

94 GTX Fuel filter tubing routing question

Ok, been replacing my crappy grey fuel lines. I noticed one funny thing when I was changing them out. I believe the previous owner had the tubes backwards on the fuel filter. Below is a pic of how the manual says it should be, can someone verify that its correct? Thanks!!

    94 GTX tube location question

Thanks Lou.... I will be removing the carbs so I can clean them and the inner filters. Couple questions... I need to drain the gas tank so I can mess with the baffle and I figure it would be good to empty it anyway so I can do the fuel lines and the carbs. Do you have any tips on how to drain...

    94 GTX tube location question

Cool, thanks for the fast replies... I was already looking into replacing the fuel lines. I was told to just bypass the stock fuel filter and use my own? sound right? How I actually found out that the piston had smoked is that after firing it up on the trailer for a couple seconds (running...

    94 GTX tube location question

New to the forum. I am doing a top end rebuild after finding out the mag side piston was blown. While taking things apart I came across one tube that was just sitting there not connected to anything. I tried tracking it down in the repair manual but cant seem to figure it out. Here are a...
