I do not have the GTR experience to answer your question but I seriously doubt that it would make a real difference on the gasoline budget.

My GTI 90 goes 43 mph and I am satisfied with it... As soon as you get a supercharged machine, it will take more gas. However, the main difference is in the way you are using it: any ski running at full throttle will suck up lots of gas (even mine). If you do not have enough money for gasoline...

Have you done a compression test before anything else? If it cranks and your battery is good, this is what I would do at this point.

Maybe a little dielectric grease?

Looks like you have a hose or a fitting breaking (cracking). I have the exact same ski and believe me, this is "not" normal. The strainer is the first line of defense after the gas tank so first step would be to check the hose going to the strainer and the fuel selector (try to put it on reserve...

The only other way to get water in the hull is to flip the ski over. Maybe sitting under hard rain could bring a few drops but no more. I check mine frequently and I could never pick up that a few ounces (probably from heavy rain or hitting a wake boat wave at low speed with water splashing on me).

Then corrosion could be the issue especially that you did not use it in a long time. I am not sure how you clean/wash/spray the inside hull on a Spark but saltwater is definitely a killer.

I wonder if rotary valve is not out of alignment however I don't know if this can happen without some manipulation. I have the same ski, it is very simple. Have you tried "jerking" slowly and gradually the throttle to see if it will pickup speed?

Could be a problem with the DESS post but with these new style connectors I have yet to hear one that is defective. Manual generally says: bad DESS connection, wrong key, defective key, dried salt water on cord, defective engine cut-off switch and defective wiring. Hard to say...

On my 2003 I tried a couple years ago and it was the same: I was unable to insert a siphon.

Long beep generally indicates key not recognized. Do you have the old or new style key? Old style key is made of rubber with metallic connector inside the rubber. New style key looks more like a socket that connects on a rounded ball on the ski.
