Rotax 2-Stroke; bypass oil injection = engine suicide?

You can bypass the oil pump injection on a carbureted sea-doo by mixing the oil/gas. But you still need to have the other oil line connected to the crankcase. As he said, the oil pump system never fails so why not use it if you still need the oil tank to feed the crankcase. Also, you cannot...

    Water exit?

Where does that screw hole enter into? It doesn't go into the counter balance area. It must go into the cooling jacket for the lower block???

    Water in cylinders

Definitely use some loctite 518 all around the orings. Put some in your fingers and pull the oring through it and use a q-tip to smear it in the groove.

    Water exit?

I'm hoping the screw hole just enters the cooling sleeve for the engine area. But it was weird getting like a 1/2 cup water come out.

    Water exit?

Removed the flywheel and water came out the screw hole circled in picture. Is this okay?

    Thoughts on Cylinder Head condition

I used it where ever the manual said too. It can't hurt. It stays soft so only use a little.

    Loctite 518 and Molykote

Molykote is clear and has a different viscosity/properties than marine grease. I get a small jar here for $10.00. https://www.amazon.com/Dow-Corning-Lubricant-Repackaged-Applications/dp/B00V2K25PK/

    Starter cavity Okay?

This is the one I ordered. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KGIEX9K I see in the comments others mentioned the bracket didn't line up. It is in there as tight as I could get it and the rear bracket hole is off by about an inch. But...it was such a beast to remove and install I am going to...

1999 Sea Doo GTX RFI - Top end rebuild questions

OSD marine online has the correct tubing.

    Starter cavity Okay?

Cleaned it out best I could. Put the new starter in and spent a couple of hours trying to get the lower starter mounting bolt to go in. I almost killed myself...lol. Ended up taping the bolt to a long 6mm hex bolt socket and got it to go tight. One thing that stunk was the rear starter brackets...

    What is this???

Nothing connected to it but I see it in pictures of other engines. So, just glad it is supposed to be there and not some rigged bolt substitute.

    What is this???

I see it on this picture of a newly rebuilt engine. Is it where the grounding cable connects to the engine?

    What is this???

I looked at the parts schematic and it just shows the one intake and one outlet fitting and the eleven or so bolts to hold the cover on. Here is a picture of the cover I stole off of eBay.

    What is this???

I removed my starter today and was cleaning under the engine. I took some pictures and noticed this Hex bolt/Nut screwed into the RFI Waterchannel Cover. It is a 2004 GTI LE RFI 787 engine. Does any know what it is? Alan

    Starter cavity Okay?

Need some advice. My starter failed and after some serious surgery I was able to get it out. It is toasted but because the orings were non-existent the inside was dirty with that good-ole Alabama Red Clay. You can see the before pictures. I have since cleaned around the opening but should I just...

    Deleting Speedometer

Thanks... The Info Gauge was an eBay special. Surprisingly it says the hours on the machine it came off was 174. But it looks great and works the same.

    Deleting Speedometer

Finished up the radio install. The Velex Gauge Radio fit in the original speedometer location like a glove. Easy install. The speakers are inexpensive waterproof outdoor types that actually sound pretty good. I just attached the brackets on the side plastic bits. Didn't want to cut out 5 inch...

    Deleting Speedometer

I'll have to check the Info gauge next time out. I was only watching the RPM's nothing else is very interesting. But that is a good way to figure out which part of the system is bad. The Info Gauge is a used replacement. The original was a rusty mess inside. The speedometer is clean inside but...

    Deleting Speedometer

Cut and used the connector. All's good, info gauge works no problem. Round radio comes tomorrow to fit in the speedometers hole. Going to add some small 4 inch speakers to the side. Pimp my ride...lol.

1999 Sea Doo GTX RFI - Water in Jet Pump cone

    1. The o-ring didn't seat correctly. I also use locktite 518 around the o-ring as a backup. The cone could also not have been torque back on tight enough. 2. If it seized then the bearings are shot. The pump housing may be salvageable so just inspect it. Also, the drive shaft could be...
