Looking at a pair of GTXs (1998 and 2003). Should I avoid DI?

96 or 97 GTX is what I would recommend. I'm not a fan of the 720 personally, they dont have a CB so they shake like hell. Plus only make like 85hp? The 787 is the best Rotax 2 stroke IMO. Still race them today, almost 30 years later.

Any machine shop can bore them if you provide the specs which can be found in the service manual. $75 per hole around here.

    93 vs 96 xp

96 has a lot more power and better handling hull. A lot more sought after too since they still race the 96. The older skis are fun just much slower.

    1998 Seadoo GSX pump spacer

If the bailers are forcing water into the hull then you have a gap in the pump bailer water circuit which allows the pump to pressurize the lines. I think i can see it in the pictures. There are two orings between the pump and venturi, you'll see the groove for them. That pump spacer is...

    Hour Meter Connection

The 95/96 XP does not have those buttons. The hours are stored in the MPEM which you'll need a reader to access. Easiest to install a TTO Tach/Hour meter and track that way.

They are tensioners. Screwing them in puts more pressure on the raves so they open at a higher RPM.

Got Cylinders Back From Shop... Help

They should have contacted you before boring that cylinder. I bet they didn't notice until the work was done and didnt want to lose the labor. That will need to go to a machine shop IMO.

    Newly rebuilt XP started once

Make sure you pressure test the engine this time. I have a feeling you had an air leak all along and thats what burned up the new top end.

    Bowser’s SPX

I part them down and make decent money. Like you said, all those individual parts add up to a few hundred dollars per engine.

Double check the carb base gasket. If it is still running away then you have an air leak in the carb or engine block.
