I had the exact same issue on my 97 GTI. Replaced DESS post and all cleaned all electrical connections. Still cut out. Then I bought a new Seadoo DESS key (my local dealer had them in stock) and sent it and the MPEM for programming, the cutting out is gone.

I finally got the pump (had a cracked one) and a new Solas 15/20 impeller on my 99 GTX Limited. I see 6490 RPM and indicated 55 mph(dreamometer) on pretty smooth but not flat water. Is this normal or should it go faster?

SBT seems to use those. I would get the correct normal circlip type. Part#290845465. I have a 97 GTX and 97 GTI with SBT engines. I pray those are not retaining the wrist pins, but probably are.

Do you have a Seadoo dess key or an aftermarket one? That will cause issues.

Just get a regular key for it. No programming on that. Seadoo did not start the DESS system until mid 90's.

Looking from the back at the jet pump on the upper left there is a black plastic tube that the garden hose will screw right into the end. No adapter needed. Be sure to start the motor before turning the water on and turn water off before turning the motor off.

*************************SOLVED************************** I actually re read my post and my answer was there. "but keeps cutting out like pulling the dess key". Junk aftermarket DESS key lost it's magnetism. My 97 GTX has the original Seadoo DESS key and still has strong magnetism.
