2000 Seadoo XPL Coolant line routing

Are you talking about the relatively narrow drain line that hooks to the right side of the engine case (not the main cooling line that hooks to the cylinder head and not the other main cooling line that hooks to the underside of the exhaust pipe)? On my 98 it comes out right under the steering...

Almost All Sea-Doo Models - Oil Tank Bottom Grommet (293720008) and Red Elbow (293710051) Leaking

Replacing with an OEM grommet has worked for me. I just replaced mine last week, and it had been about 10 years or more since the last one.

947 experts I need your input.

If there was water in the filter bowl then how did it get in there? It couldn't get there through the carbs... If you pressure check the fuel system, you should find if there is a leak. On my 98, my gas cap clutch slipped before it would seal the o-ring. I never realized it wasn't sealing until...

    Brand new engine failure

The check valve that is connected to a vent hole located high in the hull will be the one that lets air in. The check valve that connects to a vent lower in the hull is the one that lets out excess pressure. Follow the fuel lines that come from the tank and you will find them.

    Brand new engine failure

You could try pressure testing the whole fuel system to see if there are any air leaks on the supply side and test the check valve that lets air in to the fuel system. If the check valve is plugged, your fuel pump will fight against a vacuum and won't pull the fuel as it should. You could vacuum...

98 xp 950 water in hull.

If no water is collecting in the hull while on the hose, then possibly its the driveshaft seal, rubber hose its mounted in, or the hull insert that the hose clamps to. It may only leak at speed. Or maybe the sponsons... do they look like they've ever had an impact?

    Thumb to Finger Conversation

I have to vote for the stock thumb lever too. My reason is because your fingers can go numb after holding the finger throttle for a long ride. My ultra150 has the finger throttle and your fingers will fall asleep, so you have to re-position to a weaker grip or take a break. The sea doo thumb...

    Where do these go??

Since you're going to do the top end, I'll tell you what I discovered on the 951. I found the rings to be difficult to compress by hand while maneuvering the cylinder. The cylinders are also set at an angle which makes it tough to install them with the motor still in the ski That's why I...

    Where do these go??

The cover covers the fuses on the mpem. The 3-tipped piece goes inside the air ventilation hoses near the rear of the engine compartment.

    2000 951 carb removal

Here's some tools that will make your life easier when doing the carbs. Short and long hex drives for the mounting bolts, various length extensions, and a hook tool for working the fuel lines loose (especially the return line because it has an easy-to-break plastic nipple)

1998 XP Limited only 6000 RPM

It sounds like the rubber dampers might be disintegrated and gone. Its not normal to have play like that. Since you have the pump out, what happens when you spin the impeller by hand? Are the bearings quiet and smooth? Can you feel any play in the bearings? On the wear ring, are all the impeller...

I need advice FAST on a 98 xp limited.

Oh yeah, when you do the top end, just pull the motor to do it. When you get to the point where you're ready to pull the engine, let us know.

I need advice FAST on a 98 xp limited.

I say that model is a great ski. I've had one since it was nearly new, and I haven't bought a new one because I'm not bored with it yet. Its quick, maneuverable, and its comfortable to ride standing up. The handle bars are at a good angle and height for standing while riding. One thing I've...

Oil coming out of the cooling system indicator and back of ski

My 951 once had a warped head and a leaking head gasket. A small amount of oil seeped out from under a head bolt while it was running. It could have easily been seeping into the water jacket too. So, its a possibility. However, I don't think it was enough to actually show up in noticeable...

1998 XP Limited only 6000 RPM

If its rattling in the water, I would find out why before riding it again. I would pull the pump and spin the impeller by hand to see how the bearings are. Also, I would check to see if the driveshaft end bumper was still in there. Then, I would remove the cone to see if the anti-rattle pusher...

Seadoo XP Limited 1999 VTS doing nothing

Yes, you have to take out the VTS housing to get the module. In fact, when you order the module, it comes with the whole housing. The alternative to replacing the module is to set the trim where you want it by jumping the motor directly, and then pulling the fuse. I run my 98 with the trim set a...

The module is integrated into the VTS housing where the motor is.

Seadoo XP Limited 1999 VTS doing nothing

It could be. Before condemning the module though, try checking for voltage at the wiring harness connection and try testing the motor as Popps said.

1997.5 gsx limited bad piston after break in

Seadoo XP Limited 1999 VTS doing nothing

The fuse is under a cover on the MPEM. If its blowing the fuse, it could be your VTS module, motor, or rubber boot letting in water.
