    Another accelerator screwup

The exhaust gaskets are reinforced to prevent blowout and should go on dry, not with silicone. If you have damaged mating surfaces then a little ThreeBond 1211 will help seal them. The only exhaust gasket that gets silicone is the copper ring and that uses Ultra Copper RTV. The green carb...

    Impeller shaft end play

Are you sure you set the bearings to the depth specified in the manual? The large 150mm pumps don't have a spec for endplay as the pump cone anti rattle device is different. You have to make sure it releases and springs back when pressed through the fill hole with a pencil. If it is bound up you...

Need help on removing dual carbs, ‘95 SPX

For the same year, the SPX always had the less powerful engine. 1994 SPX 657 70HP, 1994 XP 657X 80HP. 1995 SPX 657X 80HP, 1995 XP 720 85HP. Basically the SPX was always the previous year's XP engine.

UPDATE!! (Post #43) - 1997 XP time capsule - please step inside

The 97+ XP seat is pretty difficult to recover without a cut and sew cover. Honestly Black Tip and Hydroturf are nothing special and very thin. If you were just going to sell the ski then they would be fine. If it is going to be a keeper then JetTrim.

    Sportster LE DI 2004 misfires

Fuel pressure has to be exactly 107 psi. What is the compression on the engine?

No, you do not test compression in the water or under a load.

    1996 Seadoo GTS starting issue

The concrete discharge was for the old batteries, modern ones are fine. The nice thing with maintenance free (AGM) and gel is there is never any fluid to maintain or spill. Yes, a cheap trickle charger will still ruin a battery if left plugged in too long. What you want is a smart charger like a...

No start in water 02 GTI le

Well, the carb needs to match the factory spec. Seat, jets and spring.

Could be bad needle and seat in the carb. Are you sure the new carb had the correct needle/seat and spring?

Hello! Rebuilding a very modified Sea Doo HX

You will need the housing for the water separator/filter. THe picture is only the element and o-ring. The filter with the barbs is the oil injection filter which you aren't using due to premix. Also note that you still have to supply oil to the rotary valve gear on your engine which the premix...

UPDATE!! (Post #43) - 1997 XP time capsule - please step inside

I liked it so much years later I bought a used 2001 XP and still have it. The 951 engine is a beast.

Hello! Rebuilding a very modified Sea Doo HX

Premix should be 32:1 with good oil. Fuel filter should only be the OEM fuel seperator, do not use Marine ones for boats. Yes, pull it apart and do all gaskets and seals if nothing else. Rebuild the carbs with Genuine Mikuni parts only. Pipe hose would choke it out from no air, would not rein...

UPDATE!! (Post #43) - 1997 XP time capsule - please step inside

Yes, those are the hoses. BTW: my very first brand new ski was a 1997 XP. I installed a Group K sleeper kit on it and it would keep up with the 1998+ XP's. Loved that ski and still remember the registration numbers and look whenever I see one for sale, CF 3515 PB.

Get a new float. To fix the baffle it is easy to remove the F1 fuse and bridge the circuit with solder.

What did you expect for a $200 Seadoo from 2004

It really doesn't come out of the exhaust until you actually get it to fire and run. Once that happens don't be parked on your clean driveway.

1994 Sea-Doo Bombardier GTX Drive Shaft Adapter

No they don't, because there is no reason to hold or turn the driveshaft by the splines. They make one for the yamaha because the impeller is actually threaded onto the shaft so you have to be able to hold the shaft, not on a Seadoo. They make the male one to remove and install the impeller...
