    That's not a Genuine Mikuni Diaphragm. Cheap knock-off. Not saving any money buying cheap kits. Bite the bullet and do it right once. Buy the Genuine Mikuni Kits and the Carbs will work right. The Mikuni's have a Red Anodized Center Button.

    Basically you want the Carburetors to rise up first, so they don't ingest Water... If no Sticker, use a Sharpie to mark the Transom Side that needs to go up first.

    96 XP hood removal

    If you have the Pin Remover Tool, should be able to remove the Wires from the Plugs, then thread them thru the Grommets. Keep track of what goes where. Maybe remove one Plug at a time and label everything. Zip tie together...

    Leak down test fail

    Did you follow the proper cross-torquing Procedure and two-stage Torque sequence as specified in the Service Manual? To what Torque did you set the Nuts on each Torque Stage? Were the Studs completely screwed all the way into the Crankcase and snug before installing the Cylinder Head?
