Hi, Where are the vents on the 97 GTI? Last weekend my brother went to the lake and the remaining gas had been forced out of the tank and was somehow pushed out of the gas fill cap and the on/off switch on the other side. He was not sure where the vents were located to try to remedy this...

Good info. The next time I am at the Lake of Ozarks, I will check vents. I also think the circuit fuse is blown but that fix looks like more than I can handle. Thanks Again.

Yes, runs perfect when full of gas. Last time I had baffle out it looked fine. I did add a new screen filter at the bottom, so I assume the old one is somewhere in the tank. At that time I also added a new device that was suppose to travel up and down in the baffle to make the gas gauge work...

I have the strangest problem. When my GTI hits about half a tank it will only idle. When you accelerate it cuts out and does not accelerate. I thought something might be blocking the fuel from down in the gas tank but I have not found anything. Any thoughts on what would cause this?
