hi all I've tried searching everywhere for a cut off relay with a diode on for a 3D 951 DI but cant find one and its not listed in manuals any help would be appreciated on cost and where to buy

I have a electronic mind, what is wrong with the existing one? you can prolly find a new relay and add the diode, what is the number on these part? diode is prolly 1n4001, those fuel injected machine parts numbers change often.

i bought my 3d di with a blown engine and it was already in bits i've got new engine for it and i was just going threw ski checking everthing before i refit and i noticed it was missing but when looking for part number to replace it i cant find one i've got a service manual and it shows you how to test them but doesnt give what amps or any info i need would any 5 pin relay work if i get a diode soldered on .

Most of these relay follow the markings of 85/86 coil, 87 central/87a NO/88a NC, see if these are the markings you need to follow - what does it control? And why the diode? many times a diode is used to prevent coil collapse voltage from triggering an item in the circuit - this way it is used on the coil 85/86.

voodoo, when I get home tonight I'll look at mine to see if it has a brand and any part numbers on the relay and let you know.

according to manual when dess key is on post the relay allows current to be surplied from battery to the red/purple wire which supplies mpem and all electrical components when dess key is not on post the relay cuts the current supply from battery to the mpem and other components thus preventing current drain that would slowly discharge battery all it says about diode is a faulty diode may cause a failure of dess post. sorry just copied that from a book but hope it helps you to help me get a hold of one of these cheers for the reply .mark

Pictures of my relay. Unfortunately I can't read the full number on the diode, all I can see is IN40.

The second photo is a classic, this picture proves the coil voltage comes on the sides like most relays in this form factor and shows the cathode - you can find the diodes at radio scrap as 1n4001 rated 50piv, but check the schematic and see if the NC - normally closed contact is used, if that port is empty then a headlamp relay from a car could be transformed into what you need by adding the diode and sealing the base with siliconized caulking.

still looking for answers?

down this road last year, and still on it actually, machine won't start at all. Let me know and I can tell you what I know.

i bought a relay from a electronics shop and got a diode separate and just soldered it on machine worked fine but now i need a new fuel regulator as im getting fuel in my air compressor outlet lines and i cant get mine to start so and according to my manual it says its the fuel reg that has a faulty diaphragm inside that lets the fuel into pipes so just waiting for one to arrive and il get back to you what other problems you had with you ski .

Hi guys not been on for a while, but ive been through about 5 of these 5 pin relays on mine. What I was getting was 4 beeps on the lanyard {open or short circuit } I have changed starter relay and DESS post. But then changed them back to original ones. I found the fuses on the mpem box were corroded. So gave them a clean up and a wiggle. Bingo, starts stops starts fine. But this 5 pin relay gets hot and then fails. As in earlier posts the proper 5 pin relay is not listed as a part on any manuals.
So be carefull when your 3D di stops and
you get billed for a new mpem check or change the 5 pin relay.
If anyone can get the part pictured or similar one let me know where from.
Cheers David.

answer maybe...

I don't know if you are still looking, but I was able to purchase this relay, the only way is to buy the entire section of harness, includes positive battery connection, solenoid connection, fuses, and that friggin cut off relay. I smoked a couple of store bought relays thinking I nailed it, but the machine then proceeded to show me who is boss. $120 for the harness, took out relay, put in my harness, worked like a champ.

It isn't showed on the parts/microfiche diagram but had dealer call factory to open the bag and ensure it was there and it was.

All only to prove it was a corroded pin in a connector anyways...

Good luck

Starting Problems. Part no.

Hi Jesse. What was the part number for the complete fuse holder and cable. This doesn't show on parts manual.

And I think a lot of non starting problems on the 3D di are down to this part.
