    does it still have th egrey fuel lines? if so replace them.. they break down inside clog the carbs easy... lso if there is anythingat all in the tank as far as dirt.. get it out lol

    i have the same problem with my 96 xp! try disconnecting the red wire from the rectifier and let us know what happens.. also i'm going to clean the rave valves.. i'll let you know if it helps at all

    you are probably looking at a faulty stop start switch.. that's my guess.. from waht youve said the white wire apears to be a ground wire (how the engine shuts down) so the stop start switch is constantly grounding it out, causing the motor to not run. when you start it you are interrupting...

    yeah i checked the carbs.. they were from the exact same engine and i double checked all the settings they were spot on.. as for the raves... i havent cleaned them yet... and i removed all the grey fuel line because i heard that over time it broke down..

    andf the black cap you are refering to is most likely the fuel selector indicator.. it tells you where the fuel valve is set to. like if its on res. on or the off position

    its probably because the ski is out of the water... there isnt a load on it so it idles higher than in the water... i think some where between 2500 and 3000 rpm if i recall correctly...
