so you used an aftermarket pipe with the removed water box? did you hard jet the water line to the pipe, sand if so what jet do you use? Did your performance go up? i am thinking of adding a pipe to mine to try and pull a few more rpm's.

is there a possibility you could have twisted the crank on this? This could cause the backfire and also the super bad timing to no let it go high rpm, while of course at WOT all the fuel is being pumped in. Have you put this on a timing light yet?

why replace it. is it damaged? If not then the neoprene seal will insure good pump seal to shoe. This part should have no wear on it.
