Backfiring 717. Please help I’m loosing this battle

Yeah somethings still not correct. But it’s running?...ish. I got a compression tester off the internet. It read 125 both cylinders. But I don’t trust it. It’s quite hard to get a compression tester here in Ireland. People keep laughing when I ask about them in auto part stores. They keep...

Backfiring 717. Please help I’m loosing this battle

Hey guys. Thanks for all the reply’s. I really appreciate it. Especially the encouragement to stick at it. It’s such a love hate relationship. But it’s still fun tinkering with them. So I put the ski on the lake and it sounds a lot better. A few things I noticed. When idling the ski drives...

Backfiring 717. Please help I’m loosing this battle

So an update. Rebuilt the carbs again. Using all genuine parts (second pack now). Checked all fuel vent lines. Accelerator pump works well, put old pulse line back on. so as it currently sits. It bogs down on acceleration. Takes some time to get up to fulls revs. Then when you floor it...

Backfiring 717. Please help I’m loosing this battle

So I’ve got an arch nemesis and it’s a 2000 seadoo gti 717. It’s torturing me.... so the ski ran fine. But decided to change the fuel lines as green goo was starting. So new fuel lines and carb clean. Didn’t remove anything else. rebuild carbs twice (genuine mikuni kits) pop off pressure 22...

720 gti not starting (will run once going)

I’d agree. Going to take them apart and rebuild again. When I took the carb off there was no gasket below it. (My old 720 also didn’t have one). I decided to put a gasket just below the carb where it attaches to the rotary valve cover. Could this cause backfiring?

720 gti not starting (will run once going)

Yeah followed the sticky and genuine parts. I’m abit stumped. Runs so well once started with a little fuel down the throat. Then just nothing on the next start up

720 gti not starting (will run once going)

One thing which may or may not be irrelevant. I replaced the pulse line with normal fuel line (same size as original hose) could this be causing less pulse when turning over from start. Then once running the increase pulse cause fuel to flow. Carb fuel check valves both pass the blow test. Could...

    Accelerator pump fuel line problem

Hey folks. Hoping for some guidance. 2000 seadoo gti 720 one of the little pipes going to the accelerator pump has ripped just where it attaches to the carb. my issue is there’s a little restrictor in that pipe. It’s too close to where the pipe broke (around 5mm from end of pipe) this prevents...
