I took my boat out on the weekend and it's only a small thing but it's bugging me. The steering wheel is slightly off center. If I hold the wheel straight ahead, the boat creeps to the left a little. I tried to remove the wheel and straighten it - thinking it might have splines - but after...

That's great to know. I got a much bigger battery and put a multimeter on it when the engine was running and it read 14. something volts and I haven't had a dead battery since, so I'm assuming that my charging hasn't been affected either. I might strip the wires back too. Thanks for the info.

I ended up going to the same bloke you did and got all 3 struts replaced. The trailer is having brakes put on it so I haven't fitted them yet but I'll let you know how it goes.

Yeah I could prolly send them to the same bloke Pete got his from. Pissed about the waste of money though.

God dammit! I just fitted my new 50 pound struts and it hasn't fixed the problem. The engine cover now releases from the latch and pops up about an inch. It's as if the struts just don't have enough force to push it past the breaking point. Waste of $70

I ended up grabbing some 13" wheels plus a spare and mount for it so worked out all good in the end!

Does anyone know the exact width at the thickest part of these? Trying to order some wake / kneeboard racks and don't want to stuff up the size. I'm guessing its around 1&7/8 - 2"?

I found these wires that look burnt today. I've got a feeling that it's related to my battery issues but I'm not sure. Does anyone know what the wires are for and if it could affect anything? It's an '05 Sportster with the 215 4Tec.

Ended up going down to Lake Eppalock and just got back today. It was nice and warm and the water wasn't too choppy. Did have some drama's though. On the way up, I clipped a fire extinguisher that some wanker had left on the Bolte bridge and couldn't get over far enough cos there was truck right...

Nah it was too big for the battery holder! I ended up getting a cheap charger and left it on all night and it started this morning. Took the boat out this arvo and it hasn't had any dramas so far.

I'm looking at a new Marine battery with 750CCA and 100AH. That should hopefully be enough to save any further battery issues.
