    951 RAVE Valve Mod

Hey y'all: I was reading this fairly recent (Jan 2024) post, I am at the tail end of my 2001 XP rebuild, with much help from many of you. I two am at the RAVE solenoid conundrum. Here is my question... I cut/pasted the 1st portion of the awesome technical design post. A) The system as designed...

2001 XP Restoration - RAVE solenoid pulse line check valve

Apologies y'all, I am posting many questions in my attempt to get my restoration completed. Need a 2001 XP 951 expert advice. The shop manual (page 04-05-5) illustrates a check valve on the pulse line from engine to RAVE solenoid. Also, a website (powersportsparts) shows check valve part number...

    2001 XP restoration - 951 cylinder boring

Thanks again Mikidymac, I am probably overthinking some things but reading all the threads and watching videos on youtube, the information can get overwhelming/confusing.

    2001 XP restoration - 951 cylinder boring

Thanks... I defer to the experts and will keep the oil pump :) Next question... I may be overthinking this, but I looked at the stamping on the elbow fitting on the head pipe, where the line runs to the water regulator. The shop manual (page 07-02-15) shows the stamp should read 16, mine reads...

    2001 XP restoration - 951 cylinder boring

Thank you Mikidymac... I was on the fence about the drilling the RAVEs. Are you aware of a video or Forum link that lays out how to test the pulse line from engine to solenoid?

    2001 XP restoration - 951 cylinder boring

Still working on my 2001 XP restoration (951 engine), went from D.O.A (sitting in the woods for 11 years) to running (poorly). After some work (see below), got ski to currently hit 50rpm at 5000 rpm. Yes, when new, she topped 64mph and around 7000rpm. So far I've rebuilt the carbs (mikuni), new...

2001 XP Restoration - GPS speedometer

My restoration project is moving forward. Went from dead (left in woods for 11+ years) to running poorly (10MPH), $$$ to (40 MPH) more $$$ to 52 MPH (estimated based on running along side another Ski ). A planned top end + new crankshaft $$$ this winter with a goal to get her back to the 60's...

2001 XP Restoration - engine mount

mikidymac: apologies to bother you with this... I doubled checked, I can lift about 1/2". Actually the rubber cone that is attached to bottom mount lifts off the bottom of the base (1/2" or so), nothing seams broken/loose. Was the rubber cone glued to bracket or is the 13mm bolt that feeds down...

2001 XP Restoration - engine mount

mikidymac: thank you. Yes 3 mounting points. Front tight, cannot move at all. Rear (under carbs) tight no movement. Rear at exhaust sits on rubber, but I can lift about 2 inches. Working as designed?

2001 XP Restoration - engine mount

On the 951 engine in my 2001 XP, I noticed the rear of the engine, next to exhaust pipe, moves. The other 3 corners are bolted down, no play, but the 4th corner (next to exhaust pipe) sits on a rubber grommet (#51 below). I can lift the engine at this point. Is this working as designed? All the...

2001 XP Restoration - water leak - stumped

Knee deep in my restoration of a 2001 XP. Ran into a water leak that has me stumped. When I have the XP hooked up to a hose, engine running, water builds up in the rear compartment. No leak in the front (headpipe). No water in front compartment (ski is level). Thought perhaps the water line...

    Help identifying carb adjusting screws

I am in the process of a resurrection of my 2001 XP. I rebuilt the carburetor (with 'mikidymac' instruction thread). XP fires up, seams to idle good, runs slow , no 'pop' off (quick acceleration) speed and only 1/4 of performance (speed) from the past. Looking to adjust the carb. I have attached...

    Help identifying 2 (venting?) hoses

Grim: That yellow hose (filled with styrofoam) is strange. Was hoping an 'expert' (seadoo technician) would see this and provide a why, (not shown in the shop manual or parts manual), since the hose is plugged in the engine bay but exits the rear of the ski for venting? Since yours is also...

    Help identifying 2 (venting?) hoses

Hey y'all: After 11 years collecting dust, I finally was able to get my 2001 XP running again (luck, and help from forum). Anyway, there are 2 hoses in the engine compartment I have questions about. I have attached a picture. I checked the 2001 seadoo shop manual and can't find any reference...

    Flush port on 2001 XP

Gene (etemplet): Thank you for confirming the flush port. The 2001 seadoo shop manual has numerous errors, that added days to my rebuild, but after 11 years the XP runs again. The high rpm problem actually turned out to be, when reassembling the rebuilt carbs, I hooked the throttle cable to...
