Maintaining Sea Doo batteries over winter

I've had my two 1996 Sea Doo GTS PWCs for about 4 years now. They came with EverStart Lead Acid batteries, not sure how old. I have been maintaining them in my garage over the winter with a 2A battery smart charger, where I would charge every month to maintain 100% (12.6V) Over the years the...

96 GTS not running full speed after engine compartment flood

I'll def get a compression gauge. Anything else it could be? Seems like it's a fuel/air thing. Like the carb isnt opening up all the way. I tried running it as hard as I could to get all the water out of where it shouldnt be.

96 GTS not running full speed after engine compartment flood

So I made the bone-headed mistake of not putting the drain plug in my 96 GTS sea doo. I have two and the one still had the connectors that kept it in the hole, so when I put in the water, it sucked the plug in and gave me enough time when I got to the dock after parking truck/trailer to seal it...

    96 GTS Winterization (DIY)

I did this antifreeze process along with the other steps and everything seemed to work fine. I have them in the garage with covers. It was 32 this morning, but the garage was 55, so they should be fine. I have some work that I need to do on them, like changing out the fuel selector valve...

    96 GTS Winterization (DIY)

Looking to winterize my two 96 GTS Skis by myself this year. We moved to northern Colorado, but I am keeping them in an insulated garage (but not heated) all winter I paid to get them winterized last year, but I worked on them in the spring and have a better understanding of the systems, so I...

2 Stroke Oil for 1996 SeaDoo GTS

So I replaced the plugs and rebuilt the carb using your thread, which was very helpful. I was able to start the ski on the trailer to make sure it would idle, then took it out on the water yesterday. It started and ran, but when I gunned it, it bogged down the same as before. This time, I...

    Reinstalling Rebuilt Carb

I have these long forceps/tongs that I use to feed my bearded dragon that I shoved under the engine and moved it around. I hit something so I hit it sideways harder and it popped out and it was the nut, I couldn't believe it.

    Reinstalling Rebuilt Carb

Appreciate that. I am hoping to blast it out with air or water today (along with other nuts/washers that I have since replaced). I'll let you know if I am successful

    Lost hardware under engine

Seems like all the carb hardware isn't attracted to magnets. True big magnets, small magnets, my kids toy magnets...

    Reinstalling Rebuilt Carb

So thank you to Mikidymac for his carb rebuild thread, I have never rebuilt anything mechanical and I was able to take my carb for my 1996 GTS apart and rebuild it with an OSD back to OEM kit, pop off test and everything. Great Read and educational. My GTS just has the single Mikuni BN38, but...

    Lost hardware under engine

Spoke too soon, lost the nut for the throttle linkage on the carburetor after rebuilding it. Maybe I'll try the water or air from the front. In the meantime, does anyone know what measurement this washer is? Its a Mikuni BN38

    Lost hardware under engine

OK great, so its not just me that cant hold on to a bolt or nut or washer as soon as it comes free. I thought I was doing something wrong, like needed to put down a towel under what I'm working on or something. I had my little kids with their little hands reaching under the engine, who knows...

    Lost hardware under engine

Been working on my carb for my 1996 GTS and I lost a nut from the carb mount that went under the engine. Been searching for it, trying to push it out with a screwdriver, get my hands in there, get my kids little hands in there and it seems to have gone all the way under. Would this be...

2 Stroke Oil for 1996 SeaDoo GTS

I found this: Troubleshoot Fuel Delivery Problems : low revs, bogging, surging Going to replace plugs. Checked fuel filter and it looks good, no contamination or water from what I could see. Once replacing, do I need to pressurize or can I just turn the selector back to ON? Next step is the...

2 Stroke Oil for 1996 SeaDoo GTS

If I was having the issue of the engine bogging down after 5 seconds of full throttle in the water, can I try to replicate the same behavior out of water? Start on trailer without hose hooked up, run full throttle for 5 seconds to see if it bogs down like when in the water?

2 Stroke Oil for 1996 SeaDoo GTS

Thank you. Is it ok to hook the garden hose up to the cooling lines and then test out to see if I can run full throttle for more than 5 seconds? I'd rather test it out of the water rather than having to go to the lake to test.

2 Stroke Oil for 1996 SeaDoo GTS

From what I have researched, seems like the first step people have done/say to do is replace the spark plugs and fuel lines. Does this sound right? Looks like in the Technical Data of the Service Manual its the NGK BR7ES plugs with .5-.6mm gap. From what I see online, those plugs come with...

2 Stroke Oil for 1996 SeaDoo GTS

I'm wondering if the current oil is why I am having issues with my one SeaDoo. I took it out yesterday and it would rev up for like 5 seconds, then automatically bog down, almost to the point of stalling if I didnt let off the throttle. It would idle fine, but when I got it up to speed, it would...

2 Stroke Oil for 1996 SeaDoo GTS

Thats great if I can just use mineral or synthetic blend for the 1996 GTS. The one engine was replaced and the new one only has 14 hours on it. Would that one be synthetic or it doenst matter if its new or not for the GTS engine? What is the best way to drain the oil? I've read suck it out...

2 Stroke Oil for 1996 SeaDoo GTS

I bought two 1996 SeaDoo GTS PWCs end of last season. Guy I got them from took care of them himself including replacing the engine in the one. I took them to a shop to winterize them last year and asked him what all is involved to get them ready this year and he said just put the battery back...
