    230 Challenger handling

This right here. I don’t ever use the throttle when maneuvering for docking or loading on trailer (except a quick blip once I’m on the bunks to push it up). I back down into spots and tie up with other boats in “party cove” type settings all the time and it’s just nice and slow and easy. I was...

    12V Hi on 2010 Challenger

Don’t know about the codes, but yes, the bow is turned down a little towards the water and makes water over the bow a probability. At anchor, on rough water, the bobbing of the boat and the timing of the waves will occasionally have one spill over. Learned also to keep weight/people in the...

Beep warning sharp turns only 2012 challenger 180 se

I think it’s fuel level related when you’re turning and the gas is pushed to one side. There may have been a thread about this last year.

    Speedster 200 Navigation Lights Switch

I believe on mine, it’s: All the way Down - off Up once (middle) - anchor light All the way up (top) - NAV lights

    2011 Challenger 180 Tower recommendations?

Make sure you test fit it a bunch to get the angles correct else you’ll run in to what I did with the spacers needed. In my mind, your mount may tilt the tower rearwards so it will be more upright instead of with a forward rake. If you have someone who can help hold it in place or rig something...

Where are you going to mount it?

    Gelcoat, hull, graphics general

Had a local sign company put the new decals on it and picked it up today. I like the new look and that I opted to NOT do it myself. Turned out really nice.

    2011 Challenger 180 Tower recommendations?

thanks Go back a few posts; I had to make my own extensions out of bar stock to compensate for the radius at the rear. If you could mount topside and inline, it would fold just fine. But not how we have it and not with our boats. I might mess around with it when I have more time to see how to...

    Supercharger Whine

I couldn’t tell a difference in SC whine before/after rebuild but on the water and under power, it sounded the same as before. Noise is from vibration, so it could be that your old SCs had some friction causing the noticeable whine and the new ones with new bearings and washers is running...

New to me 2012 challenger 180

dilute CLR should work on rust. Or oxalis acid, 50g/L. Magic Erasers work great on a lot of things and are my first go to since they’re mild. Scrub off particulate mildew, wash with soap and water, and dilute chlorine bleach if it’s really embedded (dampen, let sit, rinse with plenty of water)

    Gelcoat, hull, graphics general

Looks great! I should have done more sanding up to higher grit like you, but the white hull hides well, and I’ve got a good gloss with the polish and wax, plus graphics going over the worst of it. More live and learn for me, lol

    2011 Challenger 180 Tower recommendations?

Got it up last weekend; took some time and extra fitting. Ended up needing 4” of spacers at the rear and longer mounting bolts. Also, i can’t fold forward because I can’t get it low enough to clear the garage. So I fold it to the rear...but then I can barely fit in garage without it sitting on...

    Gelcoat, hull, graphics general

Hand waxed it; easiest part of the whole process. Used Meguiars Pure Wax 56. Applied with a cotton hand towel; let it dry to haze and wiped with cotton towels. Very happy with it. I’m still anal about my blemishes that I see but the captain says it looks great. Now, what I’ve been dreading...

    Gelcoat, hull, graphics general

Looking great! when you’re the one doing it, you always know! My main goal is to get it ready for the new graphics, which will cover a lot of the blemishes. And the rest...as long as it’s decent and I’m on the water, who cares. I can work on it next winter! How do you do the bottom of the...

    Gelcoat, hull, graphics general

used a medium cut cleaner/polish and then a high gloss polish. Going to wax it tomorrow night. Really happy with the gloss, but my less than stellar repairs are highlighted. It’s good from far to kinda close, but it’s far from professional. I should have gone to 1000 grit wet sanding and a...

Supercharger DIY or send it in?

Put her in for the first time yesterday, all good. I had a boat full of people and gear so didn’t get a chance to go full out to check max speed. Did some tubing and cruising and ended with some ice cream. Great day and great to be back on the water!

    2011 Challenger 180 Tower recommendations?

Not a machinist but they turned out alright. I used a 1/4 bit first, the half, then 5/8ths bc I don’t think I got the holes perfectly centered so o gave myself a little wiggle room

    Gelcoat, hull, graphics general

Had to leave for Texas for work before I could due 2nd gelcoat. This time I used an old library card as a flexible scraper; worked much better. Much less excess, used like a spatula to fill the last little digits. Didn’t sand tonight bc I was sanding the deck all day. But shouldn’t be too bad...
